Cookies

The short version

The banner calls them optional cookies. Concretely, that means Google Analytics, which we use for measurement, and it is the only thing on this site that sets a cookie. The banner also asks about advertising, because Google Analytics can be used that way and we may use it that way later. Today we do not.

It does not load until you press "Accept cookies". If you decline, or you never answer, no script from Google is fetched and no Google cookie is set.

We also use Plausible, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. It runs either way, so declining does not leave us blind and does not cost you anything.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. It is how most sites recognize a returning visitor, keep you signed in, or follow you across other sites.

Related technologies do the same job by other means: local storage, session storage, tracking pixels, and device fingerprinting. Where this page says cookies, it means all of them.

What this site sets

Strictly necessary, set as soon as you answer

• kf-consent. Your answer to the cookie banner, held in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. It records one word, granted or denied, and the date you chose. We keep it for 12 months and then ask again.

This one has no consent question of its own. It exists only to remember a privacy choice, and without it we would have to ask you again on every page. It never leaves your browser.

Optional, set only after you accept

Two cookies, both from Google Analytics. They are what measures how the site is used. Google Analytics can also serve advertising, which is why the banner names it, but that is switched off here.

• _ga. Set by Google Analytics to tell one browser from another. Google's default lifetime is 2 years.
• _ga_ followed by a property id. Set by Google Analytics to hold the state of your visit. Google's default lifetime is 2 years.

If you decline, or you have not chosen yet, neither of these is set and no request leaves your browser for a Google address. If you accept and then change your mind, we delete both.

Analytics

Plausible, no cookies, always on

Plausible Analytics tells us which pages people read. It sets no cookies, stores no identifier on your device, and does not follow you to other sites.

What we get back is aggregate: pages viewed, referring sites, country, browser, and device type. None of it is linked to a person, and none of it lets us pick you out of the total.

Google Analytics 4, cookies, only with your consent

Google Analytics 4 shows us the path through the site: the page you arrived on, what you opened next, and whether you reached a form. We use it to decide what to write and what to fix.

We do not currently use it for advertising. Keelfield runs no adverts, the Google setting that builds advertising audiences is switched off, and no Google Ads account is linked to this property, so nothing here follows you to another site. If that changes, this page changes first.

Google receives your IP address, your browser and device, and the pages you view here. Google is a separate company and handles that data under its own terms, described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. The privacy policy covers what that means for your rights.

Event-level and user-level data are both kept for 2 months, the shortest period Google allows, and that limit is fixed rather than rolling. Google offers a setting that restarts the clock every time you visit again, which would keep a regular visitor's record indefinitely. It is switched off. Aggregate reports, which describe totals rather than people, outlive that period.

How consent works here

Consent rules in the EU, the wider EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and Brazil attach to storing information on your device or reading what is already there. Google Analytics does both. We ask everywhere rather than only in those places, because one rule is easier to keep than 30.

Until you accept, the Google script is never fetched. Not deferred, not loaded in a limited mode: not requested at all. That is what the banner is gating.

When you accept, we use Google Consent Mode to pass your choice to Google's tags. Every signal it carries starts denied, including the ones that govern advertising data, and only your acceptance turns them on.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a refusal and do not show you the banner at all.

How to change or withdraw your choice

Use Cookie choices in the footer of any page. It opens the same panel that asked you the first time, whether you accepted or declined, and taking consent back takes one press, the same as giving it.

Withdrawing takes effect at once. We tell Google to stop, delete the analytics cookies this site set, and stop measuring for the rest of your visit. It does not undo measurement that already happened.

Forms

The forms on this site post to Keelfield's own server when you press the button, not to a third-party form service. Nothing is sent before that, and what you send is covered by the privacy policy.

Anything you attach, such as a job description or a CV, is stored in private storage that is not reachable from the public internet. There is no public link to your file.

Spam is filtered with a hidden field, a timing check, and Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile is a bot check that runs in the background and usually shows you nothing. It does not set a cookie and does not track you across sites. None of the three stores anything on your device after you leave the page.

Fonts, images, and styles

Fonts, images, and stylesheets are served from keelfield.com itself. There are no requests to a font CDN, a video platform, or a third-party asset host, so no other company sees your visit through them.

Google is the only company that receives anything about your visit, and only after you accept. Plausible receives a page view with no identifier attached.

What you can control

You can block scripts, block third-party requests, or send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser. We treat Global Privacy Control as a refusal, and none of it will break this site.

You can also clear what is there. Deleting cookies for keelfield.com removes the Google Analytics cookies, and clearing site data removes the consent record too, which means the banner will ask you again.

If you would rather block Google Analytics everywhere, Google publishes a browser add-on that does it.

Changes to this page

If we add anything that stores data on your device, we update this page and the date at the top before it goes live. A change of that kind will be described plainly, not buried.

That is what happened here. This page previously said the site set no cookies, which was true until Google Analytics was added on 13 August 2026, and the consent banner shipped in the same change.
