02The discipline

What good looks like in this practice

Practice area is not one line on a profile

Corporate and commercial are different disciplines, and regulated-industry compliance is a third. We take the matter type, the counterparty profile, and the governing law at intake. A candidate who has papered SaaS renewals is not a candidate for a licensing dispute.

Admission and conflicts come first

We confirm jurisdiction and admission status before a profile reaches you, and we raise conflicts at the screen rather than at offer stage. Somebody who cannot act on your matters is not a candidate, however strong the background reads.

Legal operations is an operations discipline

Contract managers and legal ops hires live in workflow, systems, and reporting more than in doctrine. We screen them on the tooling they ran, the cycle times they owned, and what they changed. Doctrine questions alone will not tell you whether they can run your queue.

03Screening

How we screen for legal roles

The general process is on the talent page. These are the parts that only apply here.

  1. 01

    Admission, jurisdiction, and standing

Confirmed at the screen: where the candidate is admitted, whether that admission is current, and which of your matters they can act on.

  2. 02

    Matter-level detail

Candidates describe matters the way they would to a supervising partner: what was at stake, what they drafted or argued, and what they would do differently now.

  3. 03

    Conflicts and confidentiality

We raise conflicts at the screen, not at offer. We never ask a candidate to disclose privileged detail to prove experience, and we tell you when that limits what we can share.

  4. 04

    References from supervising counsel

References come from the person who supervised the work or the client-side lead who received it.

04Send the role

Tell us about the legal role

2 minutes of detail here saves a discovery call. Attach the job description if you have one.

For example, commercial counsel.

Paste the job description if that is fastest. Otherwise: must-haves, location and work model, engagement type, and the rate if you can share it.

Optional, if you would rather attach it than paste it. PDF, DOC or DOCX, up to 10MB.
